Act to establish the cultural safety approach within the health network: the FIQ shows allyship to the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis – FIQ

This week, the Fédération interprofessionnelle de la santé du Québec–FIQ submitted a statement to the Committee on Health and Social Services on Bill 32, an Act to establish the cultural safety approach within the health and social services network.

The FIQ recognizes that the Indigenous Peoples were subject to human rights violations in the context of Canada and Quebec’s colonial history and that they still live with the consequences of it in the form of deep iniquities, violence and systemic racism.

Consequently, it is extremely important that the Quebec union movement continue to ally with Indigenous Peoples and to pressure the government and employers — through individual and collective action — to make changes to Indigenous rights and justice.
