On March 7th, 2025, Energy for a Secure Future held a webinar, Advancing Energy Security in Indigenous Communities, to discuss the energy issues faced by Indigenous nations and the urgent need for policy action to ensure a future of affordable, secure access to energy. This webinar was held as a follow-up for a paper published by Energy for a Secure Future, “The Other Energy Security: Addressing Energy Poverty in Canada’s Indigenous Communities.”

Several guests were invited to share their expertise in the Advancing Energy Security in Indigenous Communities webinar, including Guy Lonechild, FNPA’s CEO, Shannon Joseph from Energy for a Secure Future, Christine Longjohn from Sturgeon Lake First Nation, Heather Exner-Pirot from the Macdonald-Laurier Institute, and Gurpreet Lail from Enserva.
