Nurses’ union president Yvette Coffey worries about safety of members as PCs pledge they’ll bring back 24-hour snowclearing
Yvette Coffey is no stranger to the dangers of driving at night on unplowed streets.
“I drove home after a night shift during a storm and ended up in a snowbank,” says Coffey, president of the Newfoundland and Labrador Registered Nurses Union.
“After a 12-hour shift, the last thing I wanted to be was in a snowbank, or even be worried about being in a snowbank.”
Coffey says only the opposite lane was plowed at the time.
