Head of Alberta Republican Party says no more treaties needed for First Nations.
One of the key players in Alberta’s separatist movement says he is looking forward to meeting with Indigenous leaders who oppose a vote on the province separating from Canada.
First Nations chiefs, including the national chief of the Assembly of First Nations, have said a referendum violates their treaty rights negotiated with the Crown (represented by the federal government) at the time of contact.
But Cameron Davies, leader of the Alberta Republican Party (ARP), feels Indigenous leaders would get a better shake with secession.
