Reconciliation and Strength for Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ People Through Sport
Sport Canada are currently accepting proposals for projects under Stream Three of the Sport for Social Development in Indigenous Communities (SSDIC) program and would like to invite you to apply. This intake seeks project proposals with activities that will take place between April 1, 2024 and March 31, 2026.
In 2021, the Government of Canada announced investments to expand the use of sport and physical activity programming as a means to improve outcomes for Indigenous communities. The Reconciliation and Strength for Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ People Through Sport (SSDIC Stream Three) fund allocates $2.5 million annually to Indigenous governments, communities, and organizations for projects that provide meaningful sport and physical activity to Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQI+ peoples. These projects promote community-identified social development goals based on the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls Calls for Justice, such as physical and mental health; suicide prevention; sexual trafficking awareness and prevention; safe and healthy relationships; sexual positivity (2SLGBTQI+).
