Ashcroft Ranch to become a community hub after sale to Nlaka’pamux Nation Tribal Council – CFJC Today Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — A local First Nation has purchased the Ashcroft Ranch from Metro Vancouver.
In a news release issued Thursday (April 3), Metro Vancouver says it sold the Ashcroft Ranch to the Nlaka’pamux Nation Tribal Council (NNTC) for $28 million following a bidding process. The transfer was completed on Wednesday.
Back in 2000, Metro Vancouver purchased the 10,700-acre ranch with a plan to use a portion of it to create a new landfill. However, a new landfill wasn’t deemed necessary after the organization says it shifted its focus to place more emphasis on waste reduction and recycling.
