BC Métis Federation (BCMF) is pleased to release this Final Report, outlining the activities, insights, and recommendations provided to the Canada Energy Regulator (CER) for improving Indigenous engagement within the CER’s regulatory framework.
The CER is tasked with overseeing Canada’s federal energy infrastructure projects, ensuring that they meet safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. BCMF, as an Indigenous Advisory Committee (IAC) member under the CER Act, plays a critical advisory role in ensuring Métis perspectives are integrated into regulatory processes.
This report represents an overview of BCMF’s ideas, outlining the activities, insights, and recommendations provided to the CER. Grounded in the principles of reconciliation, the report highlights the importance of increasing Métis involvement in CER-regulated projects while ensuring that Métis rights and cultural knowledge are respected throughout the regulatory process.
Through this report, BCMF aims to advance the meaningful engagement of Métis people in energy development while contributing to reconciliation and integrating Métis perspectives and cultural heritage.
