BCMF Response to Coast Salish Statement and FNLC News Release

Earlier today the First Nations Leadership Council posted a press release in support of a Coast Salish Statement of Solidarity in Opposition to the BC Métis Federation.
Both documents reference a claim filed against the Government of Canada by the BC Métis Federation. The BC Métis Federation has brought these proceedings against Canada to protect its members’ right to equality with other Métis people in BC and their right to freely associate and pursue their common goals.
The lawsuit does not involve UBCIC or any party other than the Federal Government. In light of the ongoing court proceedings, the BC Métis Federation has no further comment at this time.
