It’s the first heavy snowfall of the season and Eliza Daniels moves carefully through the newly fallen snow, scanning the ground for any sign of her missing grandson.

Each footstep carries a glimmer of hope for her.

Daniels, a minister from Edmonton, drove two hours north to help lead a community search for 25-year-old Joshua Saulteaux, who vanished from Whitefish Lake First Nation on May 5, 2025.
