Call for Nominations – Nunavut Impact Review Board (NIRB)

The Kivalliq Inuit Association (KIA) is seeking nominations to fill an appointed position within the Nunavut Impact Review Board (NIRB). This position will be for a three-year term.

The Nunavut Impact Review Board (NIRB) is an institution of public government to assess the potential impacts of proposed development in the Nunavut Settlement Area prior to approval of the required project authorizations. Using both traditional knowledge and scientific methods, the NIRB assess the potential biophysical and socio-economic impact of proposals and will make recommendations and decisions about which projects may proceed.

To be considered for this position, KIA requires:

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must be a beneficiary under the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement
  • Must have interest and knowledge in Inuit Claujimajaturiangit, culture and development
  • Must be able to complete a satisfactory criminal records check
