Call for Nominations – Nunavut Water Board (NWB)

The Kivalliq Inuit Association (KIA) is seeking nominations to fill an appointed position within the Nunavut Water Board (NWB). This position will be for a three-year term.

The Nunavut Water Board (NWB) is an institution of public government established as an independent public agency, with its roles and responsibilities set out under the Nunavit Agreement—Article 13, Water Management. The NWB consults with Government, Inuit Organizations and many other organizations; the primary responsibility and power of the NWB is over the regulation, use and management of water in the Nunavut Settlement Area.

Interested individuals should have an understanding and experience in the preservation, management and protection of water; understanding of NWB’s organizational structure and governance model; in-depth knowledge of the Nunavut Agreement; knowledge of coordination required between Institutes of Public Governments regarding current Land Use Plans and working knowledge of Resource Developments Environmental Impacts, and an understanding of technical terminology and the ability to synthesize scientific data.

To be considered for this position, KIA requires:

  • Most be 18 years of age
  • Must be a beneficiary under the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement
  • Must have Interest and knowledge In Inuit Qaujimajatuaangit, culture and development
  • Must be able to complete a satisfactory criminal records check
