Press Release

This information is for community leaders and researchers who may be interested in conducting community-based environmental health research.

The Environmental Public Health Division of the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch at Indigenous Services Canada is responsible for issuing regular annual Calls for Proposals under the First Nations Environmental Contaminants Program (FNECP).

You can download a PDF copy of the FNECP Call for Proposals for 2022-2023 here.

The First Nations Environmental Contaminants Program started in 2000. For the last 20 years, it has provided funding to support First Nations communities in addressing their concerns about environmental pollutants, conducting projects in collaboration with academically trained researchers.

This Call for Proposals aims to support First Nations in identifying, investigating, and characterising environmental hazards with potential for human health impacts. The program support community-based monitoring, research, and knowledge integration.

If your community has interest in investigating environmental contaminants with links to human health in your environment, please use the attached Call for Proposals as a guide to prepare a proposal and apply to this program for funding.

Proposals will be accepted until the deadline of November 5, 2021, 11:59 pm, Mountain Time. Details for preparing project submissions are contained in the PDF Call for Proposals document.

If you have any questions, need help, or would like to submit a proposal, please email: [email protected].
