A day after making his pre-budget pitch during an evening speech to students at the University of Ottawa, Prime Minister Mark Carney is off to the Greater Toronto Area, where, as iPolitics and QP Briefing reported yesterday, he’ll join Ontario Premier Doug Ford at the Darlington nuclear plant in Bowmanville, Ont. to announce new support for the small modular reactor program, which the advisory from Carney’s office describes as “generational investment to create new careers and build Canada’s clean energy future.” (10:10 a.m.)
“Government sources say the province is investing a $1 billion and the federal government is pledging $2 billion towards the project,” the story notes.
