Press Release
Nov 28, 2024
A 16% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to 2019-2020 levels, a 12% increase in the number of alternative energy vehicles, the reduction of 50,000 kg of waste, and the diversion of 152 metric tons of e-waste from landfills are among the highlights of CBC/Radio-Canada’s latest Environmental Sustainability Report.
The report is the third since the launch of our 2021–2026 environmental strategy, Greening Our Story, and covers key initiatives from April 2023 to March 2024. It underscores our commitment to the environment and reflects the renewed emphasis we’ve placed on reducing our footprint and embedding sustainable thinking in all we do.
“We are striving to leave a legacy of a world-class, environmentally sustainable public media company that serves all Canadians. I know that’s what Canadians expect from their public broadcaster, and I’m proud that we are rising to the occasion.”
– Catherine Tait, President and CEO, CBC/Radio-Canada
