More than 12,000 people attended the 51st annual Folklore Festival over the weekend.
The event, held Saturday and Sunday at the Fort William Gardens, showcases Thunder Bay’s cultural diversity through song, dance and food.
With the festival falling on May 5 this year, Cinco de Mayo was a theme throughout the weekend with main stage performances from the band Descarga Latina and other Cinco de Mayo themed activities.
The food area featured 15 international food booths and the festival also featured artisan booths.
The Parade of Nations, featured each year in the opening ceremonies, had 15 performances, a new record for Folklore Festival. Entertainment included dancers of many styles including Latin, Ukrainian, Highland, Finnish and Indigenous performers with a drum circle.
