City of Moose Jaw, Peepeekisis Developments Limited Agree to Naming Rights Deal For Downtown Events Centre

MOOSE JAW, SK – The City of Moose Jaw and Peepeekisis Developments Limited (PDL) have agreed to a naming rights deal for the former Moose Jaw Events Centre.

At the regular meeting of City Council Monday, March 10, Council approved a five-year, $600,000.00 naming rights deal with PDL, the economic arm of Peepeekisis Cree Nation and owner of Moose Jaw’s Temple Gardens Spa & Hotel. PDL has chosen Temple Gardens Centre as the new name for the facility.

“The Temple Gardens name has been associated with entertainment and tourism in downtown Moose Jaw for over 100 years,” said Mayor James Murdock. “We’re thrilled to see that association continue with the naming of Temple Gardens Centre, home to our Moose Jaw Warriors, along with tens of thousands of ticket-buyers, performers and athletes every year. On behalf of City Council, we thank Peepeekisis Developments Limited and Peepeekisis Cree Nation for their partnership and continued investment in Moose Jaw that will help grow our community.”

“Peepeekisis is excited about our newly established relationship with the City of Moose Jaw,” said Frank Dieter, Chief, Peepeekisis Cree Nation. “The city has warmly welcomed us and demonstrated that reconciliation is a priority. Our Nation enjoys being part of the community, and we hope to contribute to economic development in meaningful ways. We can work together to improve infrastructure, create new jobs, and support population growth.

“Since PDL purchased the Temple Garden Mineral Spa over two years ago, the city and the people of Moose Jaw have been very welcoming and accepting of us into their community,” added Allan Bird, PDL Chairman and Nation Headman.
