Community rinks grant back after assisting 581 ice surfaces in 2022-2023 – West Central Online

Oct 23 2023

A uniquely Canadian grant is back once-again in time for the winter.

After assisting a total of 581 ice surfaces, including 376 skating rinks and 205 curling rinks with funding, the window is again open to apply for the $2,500 grant that helps municipally-owned facilities, schools, Indigenous communities and non-profit organizations fund each ice surface they have per year according to the recent government release.

“The Community Rink Affordability Grant program plays an important role in building healthy communities and protecting our local infrastructure,” Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Laura Ross said. “These rinks are a focal point for many communities and offer a wide variety of programming year-round. This grant helps with costs associated with running locally owned rinks, and ensures they remain operational in our communities for years to come.”
