The scholarships are valued up to $10,000 each year for up to four years
Connor Lafortune of Dokis First Nation will be embarking on another step in his studies with a lessened load on his shoulders thanks to the Royal Bank of Canada 2023 RBC Future Launch Indigenous Youth Scholarship.
“It allows me to not have to stress so much about finances and work. I have more time to volunteer in my communities and give my time,” said Lafortune.
The Nipissing University graduate was one of 20 recipients of scholarships that are valued at up to $10,000 each year for up to four years.
“I graduated with a double honours specialization in Indigenous studies and social justice and gender equity with a minor in legal studies,” he said.
Lafortune said pursuing Indigenous studies was incredibly important for him.
