Summit Sisters was started by Samantha De Coteau in 2022
Summit Sisters, a group of female roofers from across Canada, were in Jamaica this week helping repair roofs and other damage done to housing from a hurricane last year.
Founder Samanntha De Coteau, a Cree woman from Whitefish Lake First Nation in Alberta, now living and working in Ontario, formed the group in 2022 when she needed help with a big job.
The group now has 12 roofers, Indigenous and non-Indigenous. Seven of them volunteered to help in the Jamaica relief efforts this week.
