Four-storey apartment building to help Indigenous men at risk of homelessness – Construct Connect

TORONTO — Located at 230 Coxwell Ave. in Toronto, a new four-storey apartment building will help create 20 housing units that will support Indigenous men at risk of homelessness.
The project will include a common area that can be used for cultural and support services and includes a generator so the space can serve as a refuge area in case of a power outage.
Recently, dignitaries such as Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow were on hand to mark the official start of construction.
It will be operated by the Native Men’s Residence and is slated for completion by the winter of 2026.
A funding breakdown for this project includes:
- $5.8 million under the Cities Stream of the third round of the Rapid Housing Initiative;
- $1.4 million from the joint federal-provincial Ontario Priorities Housing Initiative;
- $1.2 million through Ontario’s Indigenous Supportive Housing Program;
- $1.2 million in contribution from the City of Toronto; and
- $ 2.9 million from the National Indigenous Collaborative Housing Inc.
