Karine Gignac says she’ll be able to nearly double the amount of compost her business produces thanks to a commercial composter donated by the Gahcho Kué mine.
Gignac is the owner of Yellowknife-based Net Composting Solutions, which makes compost for gardens from material such as NWT Brewing’s spent grain, wood chips and cardboard from Quality Furniture, and fish waste – usually the head, organs and skeletons, which people tend to find less appetizing.
The main focus “is for the gardener to access a good product for their garden that is made in the North from feedstock collected in the North,” she said.
