GN to host in person and virtual Student Career Fair

Press Release

Iqaluit, Nunavut (March 15, 2024) – The Government of Nunavut’s (GN) Department of Human Resources is taking a different approach to reaching out to students this year, with a career fair that aims to appeal to Nunavummiut studying at home and across Canada. Interested students can join panels and presentations in-person or virtually.

The Student Career Fair is an annual event designed to promote the GN’s Summer Student Employment Equity Program (SSEEP), which provides opportunities for secondary and post-secondary Nunavummiut applicants to explore on-the-job training. In 2023, over 200 students participated in the program, including 175 Nunavut Inuit.

“Our Summer Student Equity Employment Program is an incredible program for many students who seek valuable work experience,” said Minister of Human Resources David Akeeagok. “This year we want to further our reach to Nunavummiut who wish to learn about the career development, training and long-term benefits of working in the Government of Nunavut. The career fair will feature programs designed to promote Inuit employment through educational funding, mentorship and more.”

The Student Career Fair will be held at the Aqsarniit Hotel in Iqaluit on March 22, 2024, and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Its virtual components will be available on the GN website and GN Facebook page from 10:30 onward.
