TERRACE, BRITISH COLUMBIA – Bob Zimmer, Member of Parliament for Prince George-Peace River on behalf of Rona Ambrose, Minister of Health, today officially opened the Kitsumkalum First Nation’s new health centre.
The new facility is the result of a $3 million investment from Health Canada and $250,000 from the Kitsumkalum First Nation.
“Our Government is committed to promoting and protecting the health and well-being of First Nations communities,” said MP Zimmer. “We are pleased to have provided financial support for the construction of this new health facility.”
The new health centre will provide a variety of health services through programming related to healthy childhood development (including pre- and post-natal care), health promotion and disease prevention, mental health and addictions, and home and community care.
The facility will be operated by the Kitsumkalum First Nation, a community of about 700 residents.
