Join the Office of Indigenous Initiatives (OII) at McGill University for the thirteenth annual Indigenous Awareness Weeks (IAW)

Indigenous Awareness Weeks (IAW) are a two-week series of events involving Indigenous academics, artists, and community members. The goal of the Office of Indigenous Initiatives (OII) is to encourage a greater understanding of Indigenous peoples among students, staff, and faculty at McGill University, as well as in the larger Montreal and Quebec communities. OII also help foster a dialogue among First Nations, Métis and Inuit on topics that are important to individuals and their communities. The events outlined below create a space that brings together Indigenous experts and community leaders as well as McGill students, faculty, and staff.
Events open to the public
September 19 + 26, 2024 (11 a.m. – 5 p.m.)
September 20, 2024 (11:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.):
September 30, 2024: National Day of Truth and Reconciliation
Events for Indigenous students only
September 25, 2024: Land-Based Learning with AJ Esquega
These events are open to a maximum of 15 Indigenous students only per workshop session.
Workshop 1 (10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.) Moose Meat Delicacies, Barley soup, and Bannock.
Workshop 2 (3 p.m. – 5 p.m.) – Traditional Gillet Making.
