Investigations concluded on five files

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has completed its investigations into five separate incidents and released the findings.

On Jan. 13, 2020, pursuant to Sec. 46.1 of the Police Act, ASIRT was directed to investigate an officer-involved shooting in Edmonton.

On Feb. 3, 2020, ASIRT was directed to investigate an officer-involved shooting in Edmonton.

On Feb. 20, 2020, ASIRT was directed to investigate an officer-involved shooting in Edmonton.

On Feb. 8, 2021, ASIRT was directed to investigate an in-custody death in Grande Prairie.

On Dec. 12, 2021, ASIRT was directed to investigate an arrest and detention involving Lakeshore Regional Police Service and the RCMP.

ASIRT’s mandate is to effectively, independently and objectively investigate incidents involving Alberta’s police that have resulted in serious injury or death to any person, as well as serious or sensitive allegations of police misconduct.
