Health authority leaders and the nation’s leadership met in the ʼNa̱mǥis big-house on Thursday for the signing ceremony.
Island Health has signed an agreement with ‘Na̱mg̱is First Nation to better co-ordinate health-care service delivery on Cormorant Island.
Senior officials at Island Health will now be required to work collaboratively with the nation’s health board regarding the Cormorant Island Community Health Centre and how it can deliver services more closely with the nation-operated ‘Na̱mg̱is Health Centre across the street.
‘Na̱mg̱is Chief Victoria Isaac said in a statement that the nation is pleased that there is now a joint decision-making process with Island Health that will help keep the community stable and healthy.
