ITAC’s Communications Manager Attends International Media Marketplace North America

Press Release

Xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) – The Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC) attended another successful International Media Marketplace (IMM) event in New York City (NYC) from January 24 – 25, 2024. This marked IMM’s eighth year in NYC and 12th globally to help build relationships and network — connecting the travel industry with North America’s top travel journalists, editors, influencers and broadcasters.

Ryan Rogers, ITAC’s award-winning Communications Manager, and Provincial and Territorial Indigenous Tourism Associations Indigenous Tourism Alberta, Indigenous Tourism BC, and Indigenous Tourism Québec attended alongside 343 global brands, meeting with approximately 486 top-tier media. Rogers had 24 pre-scheduled meetings with writers who contribute to outlets such as National Geographic, Travel + Leisure, and Conde Nast Traveler, to name just a few.

ITAC was delighted to have attended another IMM event and remains committed to ongoing proactive media relations and participation in media familiarization tours to ensure Indigenous travel remains top of mind when consumers plan their travels. Moreover, ITAC recognizes more travellers are keen on Indigenous tourism and knows demand, both domestically and globally, is growing for authentic Indigenous experiences, which is why IMM is an excellent opportunity to expand travel trade and media networks in key markets.
