In northern Quebec, where harsh winters and remote locations make home construction slow and costly, a Toronto startup is betting on LEGO‑style kits to spark a housing revolution for Inuit communities.

Russell Johnson, who has spent the past five years living and working in Quebec’s far northern Nunavik region, said the area faces a housing crisis rooted in overcrowding, aging homes and weak maintenance. “I personally have seen many homes where you go in and there’s a bedroom with like three or four mattresses on the floor, where a substantial amount of children were sleeping in the same space,” he said.
