Press Release
On Thursday, November 2, Library and Archives Canada (LAC) tabled its 2023–2027 Departmental Sustainable Development Strategy (DSDS) to Parliament.
Framed using the Sustainable Development Goals established under the United Nations 2030 Agenda, the DSDS describes the actions that LAC will take to advance sustainable development over the next four years. It also supports the Greening Government Strategy and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
With the DSDS, LAC contributes to the whole-of-society efforts to achieve the 2030 Agenda, joining 99 other federal departments and agencies that have tabled their own strategies.
Sustainable development is also a central value of our Vision 2030 plan, which provides a framework that will guide us through this decade. Through the DSDS, we reinforce our commitment to reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples, to reducing inequalities and to making our buildings green, welcoming and accessible. We are eager to continue our efforts to create spaces where individuals and communities can discover, understand and connect with the countless stories and experiences found in our collections.
