Macdonald enters Indigenous Hall of Fame – Simcoe Reformer

Simcoe’s John Macdonald has been selected as a member of the North American Indigenous Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2025.

From his time at Simcoe Composite School to McGill University, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and now as a Grand Erie teacher, John Macdonald never shied away from his Indigenous roots.

Macdonald proudly speaks of his Mohawk heritage, and advocates for Indigenous youth to achieve their goals not just on the field but in life as well.

That mentality — not to mention a stellar athletic and coaching career — led to the Simcoe product’s recent selection as a member of the North American Indigenous Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2025.
