A Maple Creek resident was surprised and encouraged by being made a member of the Order of Canada.
Michelle Frances Good said was a shock to get the e-mail confirming the honour.
“To say that I am surprised is quite the understatement,” Good said. “And I was first notified in October, October 17th, actually, I received an e-mail from the Office of the Chancery of Honours at the Governor General’s offices. My initial thought was I’m being asked for a reference for another person. Then I read further and, oh, it’s me. It was really quite a lovely surprise, but a surprise for sure. I am honored and humbled and inspired to work harder.”
Good worked as a lawyer supporting the survivors of residential schools and is an author. She was encouraged by the recognition.
