Media Advisory – Government of the Northwest Territories to release 2024-25 Budget

Media are invited to attend the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) 2024-2025 Budget Lock-up.

When: Thursday, May 23, 2024

Where:             Arthur Laing Building

Time:                6:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Embargoed copies of budget materials will be available, and Department of Finance staff will be available to answer technical questions.

Finance Minister Caroline Wawzonek will be available to speak to the media at 8:30AM the following day, May 24, 2024, in advance of delivering the Budget Address. Details for participation will be provided to those in attendance at the Budget Lock-up on May 23.

Reporters planning to attend the budget lock-up must RSVP by 3:00 PM on May 22, 2024. Please note the following:

• The entrance to the Laing Building is locked at 5:00 PM daily. A Department of Finance representative will be at the entrance from 5:45 PM – 5:55 PM to admit members of the media. Late arrivals will not be admitted.
• Reporters may only attend the media availability with Minister Wawzonek if they participate in the lock-up session.
• Reporters must return all copies of budget materials at the end of the lock-up session.

All information provided in the lock-up is embargoed until the Budget is presented in the Legislative Assembly at approximately 10:30 AM on May 24, 2024.
