Métis: Children of the Fur Trade event returns to Museum of Surrey on Saturday, April 13

Surrey, BC – Métis: Children of the Fur Trade event returns to Museum of Surrey on Saturday April 13, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. In partnership with the Delta Métis Association, this annual event invites visitors to enjoy stories and performances about the rich and diverse Métis heritage with an engaging exploration of both current and historical traditions.

“There is a vibrant Métis population living in the City of Surrey,” said Lynn Saffery, Museum Manager. “Staff and volunteers love hosting this annual event, where visitors have the opportunity to increase their understanding and learn about the rich heritage of the Métis, one of Canada’s Indigenous peoples.”

All visitors will be able to enjoy a variety of Métis activities. Learn some jigging with Métis Bev Dance Group, watch performances from V’ni Dansi and Waceya Dance Troupe, listen to stories, and create crafts. Also provided will be market vendors and food, offering a selection of goods that reflect Métis craftsmanship and heritage.
