Minto will be hosting a special event celebrating Indigenous people this month.
On Wednesday, September 25 from 6-8:00 p.m. at the Harriston-Minto Community Complex in Harriston, members of the public are invited to come and celebrate Indigenous culture, and Marketing and Community Development Coordinator, Erin Raftis, says the event will feature special guests.
“It’s gonna feature the stories and music of Christin Dennis, a Chippewa Knowledge Carrier, flautist, storyteller and artist. He’s gonna share stories about his heritage and play some music for us,” Raftis explained. “Also included in the ticket to the event, we will get to try sweetgrass ice cream, which is a creation by an Owen Sound chef, Zach Keeshig, who is a pioneer/educator of progressive indigenous cuisine. So we are very excited to try that, too.”
