MNO Announces the Return of the Métis Babysitters Club Program

The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) is proud to announce the return of the Métis Babysitters Club Program for 2025 — a unique and enriching opportunity for Métis youth to gain valuable life and career skills while connecting with their culture.
This program is designed to support Métis youth who are interested in part-time babysitting by offering career readiness training, cultural activities, and certification opportunities. Open to students in Grades 7–10 (as of September 2025), the program provides a well-rounded foundation for safe, confident, and culturally grounded caregiving.
What’s Included in the Program?
Participants will enroll in a multi-part training program that covers:
- A certified Babysitters Course
- Introduction to First Aid & CPR
- Resume building and how to safely promote babysitting services
- A workshop on using Canva to create posters and marketing materials
- Mental health awareness and crisis management skills
- Métis cultural games and activities to engage children in their care
- A review of the MNO Code of Conduct to Protect Children and other key policies
Upon successful completion of the course, each participant will receive a Certificate of Completion from the MNO’s Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) team.
Program Sessions
- Summer Session: July 9, 2025
- Fall Session: October to November 2025
- Winter Session: February to March 2026
The majority of the program is self-directed, with virtual check-ins and info sessions.
Eligibility Criteria
- Youth must be in Grades 7–10 as of September 2025
- The parent/guardian or youth must be an MNO citizen eligible for direct benefits
- The family must reside in Ontario
- Parental/guardian consent is required
