MNO Congratulates Newly Elected MNBC President Walter Mineault

Press Release

September 12, 2024

The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) congratulates Walter Mineault, recently elected President of Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) and extends its best wishes to all newly elected leadership.

President Mineault’s leadership will greatly benefit Métis people in British Columbia, especially through his focus on key areas such as addressing homelessness, advocating for Métis youth, promoting Métis culture and language, and confronting the ongoing tragedy of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls.

“Our Métis governments share many common interests,” says MNO President Margaret Froh. “The MNO looks forward to exploring opportunities for collaboration as we work together to identify priorities and find solutions that benefit all Métis citizens and communities.”

We also wish to acknowledge and express our gratitude to Lissa Dawn Smith for her dedicated service and leadership as the outgoing President. Her efforts have been deeply appreciated, and her contributions will continue to be valued in the ongoing work of advancing Métis rights and interests.

Congratulations once again to MNBC on their recent election, and we look forward to working together for the benefit of all Métis citizens.
