Press Release
May 2, 2024
The Leadership, staff, and Membership of Moose Cree First Nation express our shared concern and encouragement to the community of Waskaganish while they conduct search and rescue efforts to locate a missing child from one of their families’ camps.
When incidents such as this occur, we are reminded of our Cree customs to support those in their time of need.
We have begun assembling a list of personnel from our community that are available to assist in these search and rescue efforts. At this time, these personnel are only on standby, but we are ready to jump into action should we receive a call to assist. Please contact Fire Chief Michael Delaney at 705-336-8396 if you would also like to assist in this effort.
We are keeping the family and community in our prayers, and we are hoping for the best for the safe return of the missing child. We also send our encouragement to the teams on the ground, water, and air as they conduct their important work. Take care to all involved.
From the Office of the Chief & Council, Executive Services, and Administrative Support.
