Press Release
Moose Cree First Nation is proud to announce that a Jordan’s Principle application has been approved to support our youth attending the Little Native Hockey League (LNHL) tournament this March 2024 in Markham, Ontario.
Within the application, we have secured funding for the 11 Moose Cree First Nation hockey teams that were announced on the LNHL social media page.
$25,000.00 has been secured per team for registration, accommodations, meals, and mileage. This funding is only for the youth; coaches are not included as Jordan Principle is only for ages 0-18.
If families have multiple children that are on different MCFN teams, they will only receive accommodation and mileage once, however meals will be provided for all children.
How to access funds
Team Managers
Managers of MCFN teams will be responsible for distributing the funds to the families. Managers are responsible for all receipts and must be submitted upon return, no exceptions. Managers can email Janet McKay with details (contact information below) to get started.
Parents/Guardians
Managers are responsible for distributing the funds to families. You will be contacted by the team manager.
Teams not included
Currently, we are aware that there are five (5) teams are not included, however we do have some time to amend the application to include all teams. Please be patient with us during this time, as we are doing our best to accommodate all youth based on the information we received to attend and represent their First Nation at the largest Indigenous hockey tournament of the year.
We requested information regarding the number of teams attending LNHL some time ago, however we were only able to get 11 verified from the LNHL registration list.
