The House of Commons may have officially powered down for the holidays, but the PUBLIC ACCOUNTS committee is slated to hold at least one more session to fulfill one of its core parliamentary responsibilities: namely, going through the fine print of the Public Accounts of Canada, which were tabled yesterday afternoon as a three-volume set and offer a detailed breakdown of government revenue and expenses. On deck to brief the committee on the contents: Finance deputy minister Chris Forbes, Comptroller General Annie Boudreau and a full contingent of senior officials from Treasury Board Secretariat, as well as Auditor General Karen Hogan and her team, who are tasked with reviewing the numbers before the final statements are presented to Parliament.
