National Day for Truth and Reconciliation: Mississauga events and ideas to honour Indigenous People around Orange Shirt Day 2024 – Mississauga

With the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation coming Monday, there are a handful of events in Mississauga for those looking to learn about Indigenous history and culture.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also called Orange Shirt Day, honours children who never returned home from Canada’s residential schools, as well as survivors of the system, which aimed to assimilate Indigenous youth and children into European-Canadian culture.

Bradley Museum visitors can learn more about the history of Indigenous Peoples in Mississauga and what city staff are doing to make progress on the 94 calls to action in the 2015 Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) report.
