NEW CERTIFIED ABORIGINAL PROFESSIONAL ADMINISTRATOR (CAPA) IN PERSON PROGRAM KICKS OFF
Ottawa, Ontario, October 8, 2013 – On October 4-6th AFOA Canada (formerly The Aboriginal Financial Officers Association of Canada) hosted its inaugural CAPA In Person training session where Senior Aboriginal Administrators gathered in Enoch, Alberta to kick off their first of six weekend intensive sessions. These intense sessions lead towards AFOA Canada’s newest certification program and designation; The Certified Aboriginal Professional Administrator (CAPA).
The CAPA Program is designed to enhance the knowledge and professional development of Senior Administrators and aspiring Senior Administrators working in Aboriginal communities and organizations. Through this program, Administrators will learn how to significantly enhance their workplace performance and successfully fulfill their mandates to provide optimal service to meet the needs of their communities and organizations.
“Not only is it unique to an Aboriginal workplace, but, it is an opportunity to show that you care for your Aboriginal organization. These courses are relevant to First Nations, Inuit and Métis working environments and that’s what makes it so unique.” states one of the CAPA participants.
In a time of economic and social change for many Aboriginal Communities and organizations, the role of the senior Administrator working in these Aboriginal communities and organizations has steadily increased in significance and importance.
“The health and success of Aboriginal communities and organizations can often be directly linked to the effectiveness and capacity of its administration. Senior Administrators and managers working in Aboriginal communities and organizations are key to the viability and well-being of the organization and the community people being served” states Terry Goodtrack, CGA, CAFM, CAPA, AFOA Canada President & CEO
AFOA Canada is a membership-driven centre for excellence, information and certification in Aboriginal finance and management. AFOA Canada has been developing the CAPA curriculum for this program since 2009. They have engaged an extensive team of experts from across Canada to develop the curriculum and deliver the certification program. The second CAPA In-Person Cohort begins December 6-8, 2013 at Casino RAMA, Ontario. The third CAPA In-Person Cohort begins March 14-16, 2014 at the Membertou Trade and Convention Centre, Nova Scotia.
