New Regional Senior Justices of the Peace Appointed to the Ontario Court of Justice

The Ontario government is pleased to announce the appointment of two new regional senior justices of the peace to the Ontario Court of Justice.

Justice of the Peace Gregory John Fantino has been appointed regional senior justice of the peace to the Toronto region, effective February 21, 2025. He will be replacing Regional Senior Justice of the Peace Melanie Bremner.

In 2009, Justice of the Peace Fantino was appointed justice of the peace to the Ontario Court of Justice in the Toronto region. He has also acted as local administrative justice of the peace in Toronto and has offered support and guidance to newly appointed justices of the peace as a secondary mentor.

Justice of the Peace Fantino began his career in commercial underwriting in 1994 for Lombard Insurance. Between 2000 and 2007, he became partner and managing director at Arthur J. Gallagher Canada Limited. Prior to his appointment, Justice of the Peace Fantino was senior vice president of Marsh Canada Limited and responsible for leading sales, marketing and business development initiatives.

Justice of the Peace Fantino volunteered with multiple youth charities such as ProAction Cops & Kids, Universal Youth Foundation Canada and the SickKids Foundation. He also served as an off-ice and on-ice official to several leagues sanctioned by the Ontario Hockey Federation.

Justice of the Peace Fantino graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts degree with merit, is a Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP) specializing in management with the Insurance Institute of Canada and holds a Canadian Risk Management diploma and a certificate in Adjudication for Administrative Agencies, Boards and Tribunals from Osgoode Hall Law School Professional Development, York University.

A regional senior justice of the peace advises and assists the associate chief justice/coordinator of justices of the peace and the regional senior judge in all matters pertaining to justices of the peace.

Justice of the Peace John Clayton Domm has been appointed regional senior justice of the peace to the Central East region, effective March 1, 2025. He will be replacing Regional Senior Justice of the Peace Martha De Gannes.

In June 2021, Justice of the Peace Domm was appointed justice of the peace to the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe/Muskoka and most recently served as local administrative justice of the peace since January 2024. He also served on the Chief Justice’s Indigenous Initiatives Advisory Committee.

Justice of the Peace Domm started his career in policing that spanned over 28 years and culminated in him becoming chief of police for 10 years. After his career in policing, he held several appointments, including regional vice chairperson to the Parole Board of Canada, member of the RCMP Management Advisory Board and member of the Treasury Board of Canada’s Departmental Audit Committee for Public Safety Canada.

Justice of the Peace Domm volunteered with Frontier College, a national charitable literacy organization, as a board member from 2015 to 2018 and again from 2020 to 2021. He was also the team manager of the North Central Predators AAA midget hockey team.

Justice of the Peace Domm holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Guelph and has been awarded the Member Order of Merit for the Police Forces as well as the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal and Police Exemplary Service Medal.

A regional senior justice of the peace advises and assists the associate chief justice/coordinator of justices of the peace and the regional senior judge in all matters pertaining to justices of the peace.
