New Vice President – Career & Community Initiatives Appointed

SASKATOON – Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) is excited to announce the appointment of Lisa Shingoose as the new Vice President of Career & Community Initiatives effective March 10, 2025.

A proud member of Cote First Nation, Lisa Shingoose has dedicated her career to furthering employment development opportunities for First Nation people in Saskatchewan. A long-standing member of the SIIT Senior Executive team, Lisa accepted this newly formed portfolio as SIIT continues to grow and adapt to meet the changing needs our communities. Her accountabilities will continue to include the 10 JobConnections locations across the province in the Battlefords, Creighton, La Loche, La Ronge, Lloydminster, Meadow Lake, Prince Albert, Regina, Saskatoon, and Yorkton, but with the addition of other community-centered services offered by the Extensions

⦁ Workforce Development Department, Community Engagement & Strategy, Strategic Initiatives, as well as developing SIIT’s applied research capacity.

“Lisa is passionate about serving communities and we are fortunate that SIIT has grown to a point where we can gather these departments under the stewardship of such a skilled senior leader” explains Bellegarde. “In the 2020/21 academic year, SIIT offered 100 programs across the province. In 2023/24 that number has doubled to 202 distinct program offerings. While other post-secondary institutions experienced a drop in enrollment during the pandemic, SIIT’s enrollment has grown by over 90% in the past 5 years. In this new role, Lisa can bring our growing list of micro-credentials, workforce development programs, employment services, and community-based research & strategic initiatives to community to better serve our people.”

“I’m excited to tackle this new opportunity”, stated Shingoose. “I have spent nearly 30 years creating responsive programming and services across Saskatchewan. I can’t wait to focus my energy on this new mandate.”

Shingoose’ previous portfolio as VP – Employment Development and Career Services will be split into two roles, with Allison Bear, acting as Interim VP – SITAG overseeing the Saskatchewan Indian Training Assessment Group Inc. and ISETS Operations.

Today, SIIT remains a First Nations-governed educational institution – and one of only four credit-granting post-secondary institutions in the province. SIIT provides adult learners with academic, vocational, and technical training, as well as services and supports for employment and career growth. Indigenous learners are at the core of SIIT, representing over 90 percent of the student body.
