Press Release
September 4, 2024 — New Aiyansh, B.C. — Nisga’a Lisims Government is aware of the unauthorized roadblock that has been set up within the Cranberry Connector and is working with the appropriate government authorities to address this situation. In the meantime, all Nisga’a citizens are urged to continue conducting themselves in a peaceful manner.
“We know that these roadblocks continue to interfere with the lawful activities and lives of Nisga’a citizens, as well as other businesses and British Columbians who are simply looking to use our public roads. These unauthorized activities result in tension, and we are taking steps to resolve the situation”, says Andrew Robinson, C.E.O. of Nisga’a Lisims Government. “Situations like this are complicated and take time to resolve. While we work with our government partners to remove this roadblock, I ask that all Nisga’a citizens continue to behave in a peaceful and respectful and non-violent manner. Being respectful in accordance with our cultural values and agreements that we have engaged in with our neighbors is critical to the success of our relationship together.
