Representatives from First Nation communities and organizations in BC were asked about their experiences with NRT funding processes from application through to reporting.
The NRT funding application process is generally viewed positively, with many appreciating the simplicity and clarity of the application forms. NRT is flexible in its funding model and collaborates well with applicants during the application process. The front-line team was described as helpful, responsive and providing constructive feedback on how to improve
future submissions.
There were a number of suggestions for areas of improvement, including how funding deadlines and applications results are determined and communicated; and suggestions for further simplification of the application and reporting processes.
Overall, the positive feedback from participants in this area validate NRT’s earlier strategic efforts to harness innovation and responsiveness in developing “next-generation program delivery” to accommodate the evolving, contemporary needs and priorities of First Nations in BC, and that NRT has met its goal of establishing and implementing a user-friendly, automated online funding application platform with intuitive, simple to follow guidelines and processes for First Nation applicants.
