NTI Expresses Condolences to the Family of Thomas Suluk

(October 15th, 2018 – Iqaluit, Nunavut) Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. (NTI) Vice President, James Eetoolook, expressed his sadness at the passing of Thomas Suluk of Arviat, Nunavut.

“Thomas was a well-respected man in his community and around Nunavut. The knowledge Suluk had about Nunavut and traditional Inuit culture is immeasurable. I am honored to have been able to work with him for so many years.” said Eetoolook.

Suluk started negotiating for the Land claims in 1977 before Tunngavik Federation of Nunavut (TFN) was formed in 1982. He was a Member of Parliament for Nunatsiaq from 1984-1988, a respected interpreter translator, NTI employee and later, operated a private business in Arviat.

His legacy and contributions to Nunavut will not be forgotten and he will be deeply missed.
