Players from the Greater Sudbury Cubs of the NOJHL and staff from Northern Hockey Academy took part for the second straight year in the Indigenous Hockey Equipment Drive this past Saturday.
Organizers collected gently used equipment for the communities of Henvey Inlet, Takwa Tagamou, Atikameksheng, Wikwemikong and Espanola, as well as Chief Jimmy Bruneau Regional High School in Behchokǫ̀, N.W.T.
The Indigenous Hockey Equipment Drive began nine years ago in Richmond Hill, Ont. and has collected and distributed more than 3,500 bags of equipment and thousands of hockey sticks to approximately 60 Indigenous communities in Ontario.
