Plans on Arctic Sovereignty, defence, must be done in partnership, says Inuit leader – ITK

In an interview with CBC News, ITK President Natan Obed says any plans made on Arctic sovereignty and defence in Canada must be done in partnership with Inuit.

“We don’t have the essential infrastructure to interact with Canada in the way that just about every other Canadian community can interact with one another. So, there’s this great opportunity to bolster Arctic sovereignty to show Canada’s commitment to the world for the Arctic by improving the lives and the infrastructure for Canadian Inuit, and that’s the opportunity that we would like to seize in this moment.”
