Graduates of PLATO’s Foundational Software Tester Training program from Prince Albert and Regina are making significant contributions to the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) in several sectors with an emphasis on technology transformation. During a client-based internship, PLATO resources gain valuable work experience in quality assurance that encourages collaboration in various governance structures which results in professional developments that will support their new career path. These placements, with respected public and private organizations, such as sectors of the Provincial government, Farm Credit Canada (FCC) and the City of Saskatoon, are providing rich exposure to diverse operational environments.
Key projects include digital transformation initiatives, website redesigns, and modernization efforts. Interns work in a blended team, through which they are coached and mentored by more experienced testers. Within their team, interns test platforms, contribute to enhancements, and engage with public administration and financial systems through different projects. They also support regression testing, system integration testing and user acceptance testing, which ultimately assists in the development of internal tools to modernize business systems. Additionally, they help with testing legacy systems, payroll systems, and performance testing for internal websites and project management systems.
The focus on testing and quality assurance is crucial in each placement. Regardless of the projects on which they work, interns play key roles in ensuring systems function optimally. They work with tools and software such as Jira, SAP, Guidewire, Contentful, GitHub, and Azure DevOps, consistently ensuring the highest quality and reliability for the projects and solutions they contribute to.
