A day after winning his bid to lead the embattled Liberals into a high-stakes general election that, at least in theory, could be underway within days, there’s no word yet on exactly when newly elected party leader and prime minister designate Mark Carney will officially take up his new role, he is nevertheless expected to address the Liberal caucus later today, according to The Globe and Mail, which notes that he’s also booked in for a closed-door huddle with the the current front bench team.
As iPolitics reported last week, the formal transfer of power from outgoing prime minister Justin Trudeau to his successor is likely to happen later this week.
